category icon How to add an SPF record

You can find further information about SPF here, but in simple terms this is a DNS record that specifies which servers can send emails on behalf of your domain. If you only send emails via our servers (including your website) you can follow the instructions below. If you send from your own dedi/vps, or from other companies servers you would need to create your own SPF record.

To add the SPF record to your domain if we host the DNS:

  • Log into the hosting panel
  • Find the site you're looking for in the list
  • Depending on the plesk version, follow one of the below
    • Newer Plesk versions
      • Click `Hosting & DNS`
      • click `DNS`
    • Older Plesk versions
      • Click `DNS Settings`
  • Click `Add Record`
  • Select `TXT` from the `Record type` dropdown
  • Leave `Domain name` blank
  • Enter `v=spf1 a mx include:spf.cust.host-it.co.uk -all` in the `TXT Record` field
  • Click `OK`
  • Click the `Update` button in the yellow bar at the top of the page

Once you've done that, you may need to wait for the record to propagate (which can take 24-48 hours) but you shouldn't need to make any other changes.
